Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone, inside the app. There's no account and we don't receive your diary. Your diary entries are included in your regular iPhone or iCloud backup; photos are not (see below). More in the Privacy Policy.
How do I export my diary?
For your own records: open Settings › Your data › Export diary as CSV. For your doctor: open Insights › Report for your doctor to create a one-page PDF. Both open the iOS share sheet, so you choose where the file goes. The app reminds you that these files contain health information before you share.
How do I delete everything?
Open Settings › Your data › Delete all data and confirm twice. This removes all entries, photos, exports, reminders and settings from your iPhone. Deleting the app does the same. Consider exporting first if you might need your history later.
Why aren't my photos in my iPhone backup? How can I keep them?
Skin photos are private, so MySkin keeps them only inside the app — never in your photo library and never in device backups. This means photos don't move to a new iPhone and are lost if you delete the app. Your diary entries do transfer through a normal backup. To keep a record of how an area looked, create the Report for your doctor — it can include before-and-now photos of up to three areas — and save the PDF somewhere you trust.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, choose MySkin and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I bought Premium. How do I restore it on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, then open MySkin — on the subscription screen, tap Restore purchases.
What do Calm mode and Flare mode mean?
MySkin switches between them automatically, based only on your recent entries — for example, higher itch or new spots. In Flare mode the check-in adds a few safety questions. It's a label to help you keep track, not a diagnosis. If things are getting worse, talk to your doctor.
How does the Face ID lock work?
Turn on Lock MySkin with Face ID in Settings (or Touch ID or passcode, depending on your iPhone). The app then locks each time you leave it and hides its content in the app switcher. iOS does the check — the app never receives your face data. If Face ID fails, you can use your device passcode.
MySkin says it “can't open your diary”. What should I do?
Your entries haven't been deleted. Tap Try again; restarting your iPhone often helps. If it keeps happening, tap Save a copy of the diary file, keep the copy safe and email us — we'll help. Start a new diary opens an empty diary and sets the old file aside on your iPhone (it isn't deleted), so it may still be recovered later.
Weather isn't showing.
Weather is optional and needs location access while using the app. Check iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › MySkin. Weather data comes from Apple Weather and updates at most about once an hour.
Something urgent?
MySkin can't give medical advice. If you have pus-filled bumps with a fever, red skin over most of your body, or feel very unwell, contact your doctor or your local emergency number now.
