About & editorial policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

In short: our articles explain psoriasis in plain English. Every medical statement is checked against a trusted source listed at the end of the article. We don't give personal medical advice, and we don't tell anyone to start, stop or change a treatment — that is always a decision for you and your doctor.

Who we are

Velvi is a psoriasis diary for iPhone, made by Adis Shirinbek. The articles on this site are published by the Velvi editorial team. Adis Shirinbek is responsible for what we publish and for corrections.

The editorial team are not doctors. That's why we rely on published medical sources and why we are looking for a qualified medical reviewer (see below).

How articles are written

  • Each article answers one clear question that people search for, such as “what does scalp psoriasis look like”.
  • Drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools. A person then checks every draft, line by line, against the sources before it is published. An article is never published without this human review.
  • We write in our own words. We don't copy text from other websites.
  • We aim for calm, clear language. We avoid hype and scare stories, and we never promise that something will cure or clear psoriasis.

Sources we use

Medical statements in our articles must be supported by at least one of these:

Every article lists its sources with links. If we can't find a reliable source for a statement, we leave it out. We don't invent statistics, studies, quotes or experts.

Medical review

Medical reviewer: not yet appointed.

We are looking for a board-certified dermatologist to review our articles. Until then, articles are checked against the sources listed on each page, but they have not been reviewed by a doctor. When an article has been medically reviewed, the reviewer's name will appear at the top of that article.

Keeping articles up to date

  • Each article shows the date it was last updated.
  • We review every article at least once a year, and sooner if major guidance changes.
  • When we change an article's medical content, we update the date and recheck its sources.

Corrections and feedback

If you spot a mistake or an out-of-date statement, please email support@myskin.cc with the page link. We'll check it against the sources and fix it if needed. Please don't send personal health details.

Independence

We don't show ads, take sponsorship or get paid to mention products. The site has no analytics, cookies or trackers. Articles may mention the Velvi app as one way to keep a symptom diary; Velvi tracks symptoms and does not diagnose or treat any condition.

Not medical advice

Our articles are general information. They can't replace a conversation with your doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist, who know your situation. If you have widespread red skin, pus-filled bumps with a fever, or feel very unwell, seek medical care now — contact your doctor or your local emergency number.
